Exploring the Possibilities

The Vulture… May 15, 2011

We’re all quick to judge, certainly at times.

I find myself tucked under a blanket this cool, LOVELY May morning…listening to the sounds in my back forest, activity under cover of green, always exciting, fresh, new, settling to me.

The mighty, transforming powers of the vulture...

I yesterday worked with my favorite healer/massage therapist, Janice Davy. Her combination of disciplines ALWAYS leaves me feeling renewed, energized and grounded in both my humanity and lifted in my spirituality. She is magic. I came to her having hurt my back being overzealous in a new boot camp class I’m taking with the desire to strengthen muscles I’ve not been using of late. My mind took me beyond where my muscles and body were ready.

I’ve worked intentionally with energy before, studied with Dr. Fernand Poulin as did Janice, and I realize it is a tremendous unknown to most of us, yet I have seen mental, emotional and physical hurts shift with its intentionality. Suffice it to say, my body is still on the mend, but I am more rooted in what is happening within me, the shifts I’ve felt coming for years now.

So I watch the many trees in front of me dance with what might be one of the last cool breezes of spring gracing this Sunday morning. Italy was the launch of a great unknown for Lulu and me. And overhead most of this morning, I heard the great squacking of the grand vulture, one I in the past judged most harshly….that evil carrion, feeding off the dead, looming like a harbinger to death. And, perhaps he is, in a manner. Ted Andrews in his book, ‘Animal Speaks’ writes of the mighty, important buzzard, the vulture…

Buzzard-Vulture:
Buzzard or Vulture teaches the power of purification of the mind, body and spirit. Vulture aids accomplishing tasks through great patience and vision, using your sense of smell and discernment, and how to glide and soar with your own energy. He teaches efficiency in actions and promises that changes are imminent. He shows how to restore harmony of thoughts and feelings so one can reach new heights with little effort. Buzzards will aid in uncovering truths, clarifying previous conceptions, and allow to see and hear subtle hidden qualities using intuition and awareness. Buzzard can teach confidence and the ability to stand with dignity and soar with clarity and purpose. He shows how to seek a new and heightened vision while increasing sensitivity. It is time to soar above your perceived limitations. Are you currently undergoing an internal death and rebirth cycle? Are you ready to assert your actions from your ideas? Buzzard will aid in transforming knowledge to bring the unconscious to conscious and teach how to soar above it and bring the transformation you are needing at this time. Are you ready for these lessons of awakening?

So, perhaps this mighty, winged creature is telling me something….surely he is as he soars ably over my back porch with his reminding call. He prompts me forward…he knows where I am headed and the longings which pull me…

‘go there….go where you imagine, and let the wind guide you as it does me. Let go of what is no longer useful….move into what is calling you.’

I am listening. I surely am. I pray for courage, insight, heartful actions in all things and inspiration and luck to buoy me forward.

Here’s a thought to chew on. July 18, 2010

“We do not see things as they are. We see them as we are.”

– Talmudic Proverb

Ahhhhhh says me as I transform a funk into a lotus flower.

Why? Because I can!

One must ALWAYS leave room for an opening!

And FYI…..In Hinduism and Buddhism the lotus flower symbolizes awakening to the spiritual reality of life or life in general.

As the lotus flower grows up from the ground into an object of great beauty, people also grow and change into something more beautiful. So it is the symbol to represent the struggle of life at its most basic form.

Your Hungry Ghost…Hope is Dangerous June 12, 2010

News alert to my psyche…hope (the context I know) is dangerous.

I’m sitting with an awareness this morning of what a therapist I used to ‘hang out with’ called, ‘the hungry ghost’. This ghost, to me, is the one that holds on to some belief, some aspiration of change, transformation, illusion, (mostly in others) that a shift will happen to make a situation, person, world view move (change) perhaps in a direction which, to put it bluntly, will satisfy YOU….me.

An example, that my father, now deceased, would somehow emerge as the warm, cuddly, emotionally nurturing father I longed for…

It never happened, nor really should it have. (Frankly, who he was and HOW he was served me in other ways). Shifts and turns can happen in life, but how better to accept what is and be open to receiving what you want, or perhaps need, from a place that can give it. (And often it might be from yourself, or not).

There is a period where we might be open to that ‘something else’ and, if we’ve spent most of our life seeking this something else from a primary care giver, well indeed, that pattern is a prevalent path which we as adults tend to follow, until, and here’s the magic, UNTIL we are conscious of this pattern.

And though much like reaching for unhealthy, fattening, yuck food might be a pattern to a sick or obese person, shifting from a ‘way of being’ can take some discipline. But when we know, we know.

And rather than hoping to change a situation or person, how freeing to know that WE hold the power, always, in attracting otherwise, or settling inside our own bones, nurturing and growing ‘what is’ in our lives, growing the seeds which might create the world we prefer to inhabit. WE HOLD THE POWER….ALWAYS!

Please try not to forget that, nor shall I.

I release my hungry ghosts.

(I’ll mark on my calendar the 12th of each month as a reminder. It will be, rather, IS my World Cup Victory. I rule my world).

There is no hope, there is only possibility, and that holds an entirely different vibration.

Bring in on…surprise me Universe.

With thanks, always…for each opportunity to wake up from my delusions.

All Structures are Unstable March 23, 2010

Eckhart Tolle is kicking my butt….and I like it. I like to see things with fresh eyes. From his, ‘A New Earth’.

‘The ego always wants something from other people or situations. There is always a hidden agenda, always a sense of ‘not enough yet,’ of insufficiency and lack that needs to be filled. It uses people and situations to get what it wants, and even when it succeeds, it is never satisfied for long. Often it is thwarted in its aims, and for the most part the gap between ‘I want’ and ‘what is’ becomes a constant source of upset and anguish.

The famous and now classic pop song, ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,’ is the song of the ego. The underlying emotion that governs all the activity of the ego is fear. The fear of being nobody, the fear of nonexistence, the fear of death. All its activities are ultimately designed to eliminate this fear, but the most the ego can ever do is to cover it up temporarily with an intimate relationship, a new possession, or winning at this or that. Illusion will never satisfy you. Only the truth of who you are, if realized, will set you free.’

Why fear? Because the ego arises by identification with form, and deep down it knows that no forms are permanent, that they are all fleeting. So there is always a sense of insecurity around the ego even if on the outside it appears confident.’

And later on….

‘Once you realize and accept that all structures (forms) are unstable, even the seemingly solid material ones, peace arises within you. This is because the recognition of the impermanence of all forms awakens you to the dimension of the formless within yourself, that which is beyond death. Jesus called it ‘eternal life.’

Back to the need to make things what they ARE, so you might change them. All in an effort for finding home, peace perhaps, an ever changing what is and what is and what is.

Illusion will never satisfy you nor seeking that forever hungry ghost!

If we only, only, only knew our absolute perfection within….we’d no doubt take a breath and vanish as there’d perhaps be no more need to tarry upon the earth.

I (no doubt my ego here….sigh….) aspire to being an angel one day.

Just thinking….
