Exploring the Possibilities

Well….here we go….did I say ‘finally’?? August 25, 2011

I’m excited…after months, years of anticipation and numerous halts along the way, I’m off to film interviews for my new pilot trailer, ‘So, What’s Your Story’ featuring terrific entrepreneurs making a difference, combining….here it is…

BEST BUSINESS PRACTICES…

with

PASSION AND CREATIVITY!

I’m working with filmmaker Corey Morrison out of Athens and have lined up a diverse team of three varied entrepreneurs…

the incredible creators of High Road Craft Ice Cream and Sorbet, (in less than one year have their product in Whole Food Stores),

Doris Aldrich, Human Rights Activist who has for 25 years been the driving force behind her nonprofit organization, Women to the World….she’s been working to uplift, educate and empower women in third world countries and locally. You’ll hear more about her soon. She has floored me with her drive, courage and tenacity.

Lastly, I’m interviewing gospel music promoter and tv personality, the fabulous Bobby Hurd. He visited Carl House today and what a treat.

Our filming of this series trailer takes place on Tuesday and then off we go to pitch it to the networks. Our focus, the possibilities that inspire, a courageous and uplifting spirit and people who are paving the way for others.

Oooooh….stay tuned, stay tuned….I’m intending ‘THIS OR BETTER’….’THIS OR BETTER!’

I’ll appreciate your prayers and intentions for the same!

It Started with A Teal Circle… June 11, 2011

Drape me please in teal

….in the middle of a luscious brown cement floor. I love discovering new spaces which FEEL right to me.

I walked into the Athens Salon and Spa and was immediately inspired, by the colors, the decor, the product line (Bb shampoos and conditioners), the jewelry and the entire business model which each practitioner demonstrated will skillfull savvy and warmth.

I’m in North Carolina…have been all week….I’m on a transformative journey….finding my way, the manner in which I want to spend my days….how I might coax a new feel, a new look, a new body, a shifted outlook. And, it’s been fun. I’ve hired a trainer who’s helping me to season some muscles who really love to stretch and play.

More on this blog later, but for the moment, a teaser….I met some new friends before leaving Georgia….at a hair salon where I was again exploring a new look….away with long tresses, they just aren’t me…..sassy and shorter is me.

Below, one of the lovely hair goddesses, Ami, bedecked in peacock tatoos and so much more, and Elizabeth, in the hat, who coiffed me in new fashion.

More comments to come….sleep beckons this weary body. Enjoy the body art on these new friends of mind, bold, courageous, lovely young women. What a fun afternoon we had last Saturday.

More news to share shortly….

The Time Has Come, The Time Is Here!! April 9, 2011

It’s been a (relatively) long wait. For many things.

This day I’m speaking of the timing for the synergies between my Lulu friend and I, to begin creating together in earnest.

We’re headed to Italy the end of this month to visit with my friend and other potential allie in all things creative (and business), Susan who lives down the hill from the Contessa who lives in a nearby castle. (Well, of course she does).

We’ll have Sean (Lulu’s brilliant 12 year old pianist Godson who she is raising), play for the Contessa. He’ll play for all our endeavors as well and to so many things BEYOND what she and I do together. His star is clearly on the rise….and thanks to Lulu! Completely thanks to her.

The extraordinary part of all this IS….the timing. It wasn’t until this morning, when I received a call from Lulu as I wheeled my grocery cart throughout Ingles Grocery Store, that I heard it in her voice….something had let go in her and in me as well. I’ve been ready in ways, but not able to move forward til Carl House was rightly situated. And though we each have other details to shift and turn, it’ll take only moments in comparison to where we’ve been.

Lulu, who grew up in abject poverty, whose uncle still walks to the community center to use the toilet to flush THEIR water so as not to use his, can be equally thrifty though can create abundance better than most anyone I’ve yet to meet. She’s more than a survivor, but a business icon to me….my needed behind-the-scenes expert who if I have my way, won’t be behind the scenes when it comes to credit taken.

So, our tickets are booked, she’s spent MONEY instead of secured a ‘dealing’ knowing the import of our trip. And, she bought (not at a yard sales), 6 new dresses priced at $3000….which OF COURSE she procured for a little over $100. I’m in good hands as is she. We know how to create opportunities for ourselves and others separately but together, I sense a tornado of ‘moving forward’ and positive actions that the Universe will only amplify and continue to direct and augment. Grateful me.

That’s just the way it works.

And I drew some cards for fun, out of curiosity….and Ganesh, the overcomer of obstacles appeared. (of course)….’the teacher’ card appeared, perfectly appropriate and the last card of three reminded us to move into our JOY…and we will.

My Lulu pal and me. Grateful am I for the people who show up as teachers, guides, lovers, friends, soul mates, distractors and angels.

May the games begin!!

Finding My Twirl…..oh Grateful Me! March 27, 2011

This quote graced my inbox this morning….

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow. ” – Melody Beattie

This quote, reminder, as I’m finding MOST things which come to me, are gifts, codes, guides, encouragements or signs to help me on my path. And Melody Beattie’s served in just that way this morning. I loved the message in her book, ‘Co-Dependent No More’ which I read nearly 15 years ago. It helped me see my own patterns at that time.

I’m playing this morning with the thought of independence and interdependence. I have been both independent and co-dependent, at the same time. How can that be so?? It can.

My father was an interesting guide to me while living, (a different and blessed one in death as I feel his loving presence all around me). He was not one to issue compliments, did not speak of my brains or beauty. Perhaps my soul attracted him so I might learn it on my own. So, my history of who I attracted in the male world often held a level of codependency which thankfully in my 40s I learned to recognize and shift. I would be attracted to men who I THOUGHT might validate who I was….yet I RARELY picked ones who did….as they were patterns, ‘knock offs’ of my Dad. Good men in their own ways, but not the right ones for me.

I needed to discover my OWN sense of self worth. And I continue to, as no doubt we all do.

I am finding, that we attract what we are. If I’m needy, I attract such. A man (or woman) who can’t build up another, is not confident in themselves. What they put out to the world may not be their authentic self. We mirror one another and have the opportunity to learn, (if we’re listening) about ourselves through who we attract.

Find Your Twirl! Photo by Sarah Eubanks Photography

Consider conflict. How often is our first reaction to point a finger. We might consider ourselves the equal culprit. Then, the first thing to do is to forgive ourselves, make the situation what it IS and attempt to shift to something better fitting.

In meeting men and women of late, I notice that I have changed from those years and continue to change. I don’t need people in my world in the same way I have in the past, certainly not men.

But, I need them both to live most fully.

And when I meet either, I am most grateful to recognize their gifts to me. My best friend Lulu is one such example. I recognize our interdependence, how we bring out more in one another than had we not met. I feel SAFE in her presence, I feel her championing who I am AND calling me to the carpet, (in her loving way) when I’m amiss in some way…..not in sync with my true self.

I’ve quoted Carl Jung often, (paraphrased), ‘Love is the process of GENTLY guiding someone into themselves.’ I endorse such thought and hope to celebrate it through action, to the people I love.

And as with my pal Lulu, I’m meeting men in my world who are the same…heartful, be they friends, colleagues or more intimate connections. There is an openness to possibilities and less restriction than I found with my father who had his clear REQUIREMENTS and ‘right and wrong’ rules.

Were he here today in the flesh, I would celebrate who he is and demonstrate a NEW way to love, as he was so deserving.

This morning, I send out gratitude and thanks to the new people gracing my life and to myself for opening my heart to receiving new people, new influences who grace my business, my world….ME! I am perhaps, finding my ‘twirl’!

I encourage you to find YOUR own twirl. It’s certainly where I feel my best…in motion, most alive, free and in my own skin.

With love, always with love….BB Webb

And the world turns. February 25, 2011

I am most definitely aware of my deficiencies. I am also becoming more aware of where I am not so deficient, expecting myself to be good at it all less and less. Oooooh, but I’m a task master to my very own soul.

Oh Popeye….he am what I am what you are. I’m over half a century old and I’m just now getting that. Certainly some shifts and turns one should not work to so ardently pursue, but rather work, I feel, to blossom the areas that need to bloom.

I’d so much rather flower, bloom where I am planted, than work to replant my very nature.

It’s going to be an amazing year. Love, light, abundance and joy.

And so, ooooooh, SO it is. Just watch!

Bloom Where You Are Planted! February 1, 2011

The team at Carl House have been having a ball meeting brides, brides, brides over the past few weekends!! We appeared the last two weekends at the GA Bridal Show Events….(great turnout) in both Gwinnett and Athens and last weekend at the Bridal Extravaganza! My take on the Bridal Extravaganza held at Peachtree 200 on the video clip below. WHAT a show it was!

(I MUST stop making faces every time a camera shoots my mug….)!!

Carl House Table: Bloom Where You Are Planted!

Carl House participated in the table top competition which was a blast…our theme: ‘Bloom Where You Are Planted’. We frankly weren’t fully aware of what the entire event was meant to be until LAST week. I incubated an idea at top speed, (fun to have this diversion)….shopped at 5 stores in 3 hours and had the needed accessories for my ‘Abundance’ theme! Our Carl House Floral Designer, Kimberly Coates added in her creative florals to complete my vision. (I particularly like our gold headed goddess, Abunduntia)! Our partner linen company, CoverUps, contributed their gorgeous aqua linens and the table was bedecked with jewels, plates which read ‘believe’ and quotes around abundance and prosperity at each place setting! Oh and two glass heads which were my favorite, sprouting grass atop their noggins. Yes, fun, fun, fun to create!

Below….our theme expounded upon!

Bloom Where You Are Planted!

Our table is a microcosm of rich abundance, the potential in our lives. ‘Bloom Where You are Planted’ is attributed to all of the following sources: Afghan Proverb, Nancy Reader Compion’s Aunt Grace, Mary Engelbreit, a song, and an “old garden saying”. To us, it is a phrase hinting at life as a celebration and choice, our opportunity to choose, create, imagine and consider the possibilities in our lives! The colors in our tabletop hint at the divine, the vast sea and the sky, live flowers blooming from the woman’s head a metaphor for all things living, beautiful and possible.

Our message is the reminder to move forward ‘as if’, whatever we imagine can become true and to believe in ourselves. Our teal, silver and gold are reminiscent of the magic of the Incas, the brilliance of the heavens and the promise of all things abundant if we’ll allow for them. The shimmering aqua globes represent a mini world, a resplendent globe and the bejeweled candles symbolize the importance of passion in our lives. Colorful fabric, wine, and flowers accented with feathers are a reminder to celebrate, enjoy, to fly toward our desires! Finally, the sculptured glass heads…a call for expansion of our minds into our hearts… believing with each breath that what we put out to the world comes back to us, or better!

Our message is about the power of this moment and then the next, fulfilled and fulfilling! Carpe diem all the way!

And wow, the designers were out at this show. A beautiful array of table decorations which frankly, blew us away! How delightful to have been in such incredible company.

Our Goddess of Abundance...Abunduntia!!

Very good company indeed!

And more….

And more….

And glorious more….

And did I say more!!

No, we didn’t win, but as with the Oscars, we were just delighted to be a part of ‘the show’.
Thank you one and all for inspiring us all!! Ooooh, the possibilities!
But ooooh, oooooh, next year, NEXT year….we’re brewing some ideas as I type, yes…..AS I type!

Oh That Junction Where Creativity Meets Vision! January 6, 2011

During my several moons of travail over the last several years….I have for about a year and a half envisioned a new website for my Carl House business. Sadly, I had not only NOT found the right person or business to help unfold the vision inside my head, I wasted money attempting to FIND that right person or business.

It’s all a part of the journey, so they say. (And who IS ‘they’)???

And what women DOESN’T like a new look? We women don’t ‘dye’ our hair, that suggests covering something unwanted…..we instead ‘color’ it….as a fashion statement. Who said anything about GRAY???

I have found though, in Junction Creative, a team of savvy business folks who GET what customer service, creativity and communication is all about. Led by savvy business woman Julie Cropp Gareleck, her team of able bodied men and women have exceeded my expectations in so many ways.

And, this new iteration of the Carl House site, is only the beginning!!

Waiting for the birth of a new website is like waiting for (I’m guessing here), a child to be born. But damn, this incubation (well over a year) seems like foreeever! There are sooo many details that MUST be perfect, representative of who we are as a company, as a team, highlighting the RIGHT details to be effective to our readers and folks interested in our venue!

This wait I’ll say is worth it as (for those who know me), I don’t like doing much of ANYTHING half way. With over 125 photos, easy navigation and descriptions of what we offer that we HOPE will tease and entice you and many others to come visit, we’re giddy with girlish excitement!

And our Carl House blog, (Carl House Unveiled), has an outfit to match. And if you’re not COMPLETELY enthralled, our new corporate site will be making a reappearance again soon, soon!

Life does have its glorious moments, doesn’t it. Oooh, the varied things which bring us pleasure!!

The truth is, I, WE (my team and me), LOVE to put on a party! In fact, it makes us JUMP for joy! Stay tuned. Next week is our due date….and that stork seems to be as excited as we are …..

We're all jumping for joy about our new look! Photo by John Campbell Photography!

Thanks Savvy Web Team, we are most grateful for your hard and smart work!! Thank you one and all!
