Exploring the Possibilities

And the world turns. February 25, 2011

I am most definitely aware of my deficiencies. I am also becoming more aware of where I am not so deficient, expecting myself to be good at it all less and less. Oooooh, but I’m a task master to my very own soul.

Oh Popeye….he am what I am what you are. I’m over half a century old and I’m just now getting that. Certainly some shifts and turns one should not work to so ardently pursue, but rather work, I feel, to blossom the areas that need to bloom.

I’d so much rather flower, bloom where I am planted, than work to replant my very nature.

It’s going to be an amazing year. Love, light, abundance and joy.

And so, ooooooh, SO it is. Just watch!

And if I were a dog… February 20, 2011

Not just any dog…one of MY dogs.

My boy, Ernie.

I’ve begun posts and abandoned them of late…my groove is shifting as am I. Like plates on the earth, my worlds are overlapping. I can’t seem to get enough sleep and am easily distracted, not off my game, but rather, my ‘game’ is changing. This I know for sure.

I find myself looking for comfort but there is none, so I work on being with what is, remembering that things are always shifting and this space in time is only that. I liken it to the clouds building before a rain, pregnant with dense air and anticipation. Nothing satisfies until the rain comes, the next bit of clarity, the new horizon.

In the meantime I endeavor to curb my impatience. Clarity, like a new day, will come…in time.

My reminder this evening came when walking in a nearby field with my dogs. The skies were gray, nearing dusk. I had to pull myself from my comfortable sofa where sleep lately pulls me like waves into the current. I feel drugged lately with a slight inertia and fog. Off for some exercise before dark. It was Bert, my athletic brown and black pup who reminded me that it’s all in the moment. His every move is joyful, heartful, open, loving… in the moment…not worried about tomorrow, concerned, anxious….just there. He sleeps when he’s tired and given the opportunity, runs and plays.

And then Ernie, my blondie, as he sits, just sits near me, watching, breathing, sitting, then sleep, outside with excitement, back in, a thrill, nothing really but being where he is, not off in the future, fretting over the past.

And so it is. Pretty much!

What great reminders of what is possible if one will but allow it.

What is it with me and goldfish? February 11, 2011

I like goldfish. I like the goldfish I’ve raised. I like ‘raising’ things…businesses, little wee animals, growing plants…it’s where my mothering instincts come out, maybe? Creating, mothering….they’re kind of the same.

But these fish. Oh, you may have read my several blogs about my fish, one where little Saska bit the dust…DAMN, it was traumatic…and all because I didn’t clean the tank in time…just as bad air is bad air, (we’d all die..OR, get sick!) and sadly, DAMN again, swimming around in too much of your own poo can cause you to bite the dust, or whatever the fishy equivalent is. DAMN once more.

But lately, my fluffy….(I know they’re not fluffy, but my one Goldie looks fluffy), with her swimmy fins floating in the water, her curvy shape. You’d have curves too with all that dang swimming about. Well, Goldie, (I have momentarily stopped naming these babes….I’ve lost more than one this last year and naming them makes a ceremonial flushing all the more painful. And we DO have ceremonies at my house).

But ‘Goldie’….she’s had a rash (I guess it’s a RASH) around her gills of late and she’s been a tad lethargic. Her playmate went belly up over a month ago and I’d just not gotten her a pal yet. I wanted to see if she ENJOYED her freedom. I like living by myself, (well, with 6 animals and one or two fish)….and I pondered, perhaps she would like a little extra space, being a ‘girl’ fish and all!

But, (and it might have been the water situation as well, despite my tidying about and changing the filter more often since Saska’s passing). I got her a friend but honestly, he was a completely different variety, and the two just didn’t mesh. They tended to stay at opposite sides of the tank. Within a mere 5 days her new roommate, or rather, tankmate, tanked. Dead, with no time to fashion a parting note. Floating upside down, bobbing in the water near the bubble volcano. Sad hardly covers it!

‘Well, enough is enough’ said I…so I began changing the water….3/4 OUT and new, conditioned water in. I bought a new filter the next day and found a friend for Goldie, someone who looked more like her. Though we say ‘opposites attract’ I feel only to a degree.

Today my Goldies were swimming side by side, Goldie’s rash seems to be subsiding and well, she’s perhaps found her match and a clean home is always refreshing. So…dogs at my side, Petey and the other fur balls on my bed and nearby, smiling Goldies in the tank…living alone is not so at my house. It’s just not so!

I have a vision… February 9, 2011

It’s time to expand our thinking. What IS possible. If we only believed, or knew our own power, every hint of worry would dissolve like a puddle in the sun.

Remind me I said that.

I have a vision for my land behind Carl House.

Bloom Where You Are Planted! February 1, 2011

The team at Carl House have been having a ball meeting brides, brides, brides over the past few weekends!! We appeared the last two weekends at the GA Bridal Show Events….(great turnout) in both Gwinnett and Athens and last weekend at the Bridal Extravaganza! My take on the Bridal Extravaganza held at Peachtree 200 on the video clip below. WHAT a show it was!

(I MUST stop making faces every time a camera shoots my mug….)!!

Carl House Table: Bloom Where You Are Planted!

Carl House participated in the table top competition which was a blast…our theme: ‘Bloom Where You Are Planted’. We frankly weren’t fully aware of what the entire event was meant to be until LAST week. I incubated an idea at top speed, (fun to have this diversion)….shopped at 5 stores in 3 hours and had the needed accessories for my ‘Abundance’ theme! Our Carl House Floral Designer, Kimberly Coates added in her creative florals to complete my vision. (I particularly like our gold headed goddess, Abunduntia)! Our partner linen company, CoverUps, contributed their gorgeous aqua linens and the table was bedecked with jewels, plates which read ‘believe’ and quotes around abundance and prosperity at each place setting! Oh and two glass heads which were my favorite, sprouting grass atop their noggins. Yes, fun, fun, fun to create!

Below….our theme expounded upon!

Bloom Where You Are Planted!

Our table is a microcosm of rich abundance, the potential in our lives. ‘Bloom Where You are Planted’ is attributed to all of the following sources: Afghan Proverb, Nancy Reader Compion’s Aunt Grace, Mary Engelbreit, a song, and an “old garden saying”. To us, it is a phrase hinting at life as a celebration and choice, our opportunity to choose, create, imagine and consider the possibilities in our lives! The colors in our tabletop hint at the divine, the vast sea and the sky, live flowers blooming from the woman’s head a metaphor for all things living, beautiful and possible.

Our message is the reminder to move forward ‘as if’, whatever we imagine can become true and to believe in ourselves. Our teal, silver and gold are reminiscent of the magic of the Incas, the brilliance of the heavens and the promise of all things abundant if we’ll allow for them. The shimmering aqua globes represent a mini world, a resplendent globe and the bejeweled candles symbolize the importance of passion in our lives. Colorful fabric, wine, and flowers accented with feathers are a reminder to celebrate, enjoy, to fly toward our desires! Finally, the sculptured glass heads…a call for expansion of our minds into our hearts… believing with each breath that what we put out to the world comes back to us, or better!

Our message is about the power of this moment and then the next, fulfilled and fulfilling! Carpe diem all the way!

And wow, the designers were out at this show. A beautiful array of table decorations which frankly, blew us away! How delightful to have been in such incredible company.

Our Goddess of Abundance...Abunduntia!!

Very good company indeed!

And more….

And more….

And glorious more….

And did I say more!!

No, we didn’t win, but as with the Oscars, we were just delighted to be a part of ‘the show’.
Thank you one and all for inspiring us all!! Ooooh, the possibilities!
But ooooh, oooooh, next year, NEXT year….we’re brewing some ideas as I type, yes…..AS I type!
